Somerville House scholarship applications are open for 2027

Old Girls with daughters starting year 7 in 2027 may wish to apply for a range of scholarships offered by Somerville House and the Somerville House Foundation. Scholarship applications for 2027 close on Sunday, 8 February 2026.
The scholarship program provides opportunities for exceptional students who demonstrate academic excellence and support the values of the School. Each year a limited number of scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and/or equity (which may include hardship) to Australian students (citizens or residents). If eligible, you are welcome to apply for more than one scholarship; however, only one scholarship can be awarded to a student.
A number of full and partial scholarships are awarded due to the generous support of the School and Somerville House Foundation benefactors. Scholarships are tenable for the student’s education at the School, subject to satisfactory academic performance and contribution to school life.
All applicants are required to complete the ACER Academic Scholarship Test.
The scholarships availble are:
- Academic for girls entering from Year 7 onwards
- Boarding for girls from regional or rural Queensland entering Years 7 or 8 as new boarders
- Foundation - The Dr Jill Mellick (1965) Memorial Scholarship - Covers 50% of tuition for Day students from Year 7 to Year 12. At least one parent must have been born overseas and relocated to Australia.
- Music - minimum examination standards apply. Preference may be given to instruments in higher demand within the School’s ensemble program.
- Sport - for girls who demonstrate outstanding ability in Cross Country, Swimming, or Track and Field, and can also participate in at least one team sport.
