Fleur Madden Kelly Geldard
On Monday 17th June, 2019 Somerville House Year 11 students were fortunate to hear from Old Girls Kelly Geldard (Class of 1991) and Fleur Madden (Class of 1998). Students heard inspiring stories of career growth and progression including both the highs and lows of leadership as a female, in order to contribute to the students' development as our future female leaders. The students were also reminded about work life balance and other challenging aspects of leadership that these women have experienced.
Architect Kelly Geldard joined bureau^proberts in 2000 after several years working in London following graduation from the University of Queensland. She was appointed Associate in 2005 and Principal in 2015. During her time at bureau^proberts she has been behind several award winning residential and hospitality projects for the practice, and has successfully developed a variety of small to large scale projects throughout South East Queensland. Most recently she completed a high end boutique residential development in Burleigh that achieved a commendation at the 2019 Institute of Architects State Architecture awards whilst also achieving record sale prices for the Gold Coast. She has successfully managed juggling a career while raising 3 daughters 2 of which attend Somerville House in grade 7.
Fleur Madden is an award winning business woman, experienced CEO and board member, recognized PR industry expert and Women in Business speaker and champion. Fleur started "Red Republic" in 2003, now recognized as one of Australia's leading Consumer PR and Brand agencies, and went on to sell this as a publicly listed company out of NYC 14 years later, handing over as CEO in 2019. She founded online beauty company "Lulu and Lipstick" which she sold in 2016. She has also spoken at conferences around the world and been a finalist in the Telstra Business Women's Awards, Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards and the Australian Institute of Management Awards as well as winning a number of Public Relations Institute of Australia Awards for her company's work.
