Coronavirus - Update and cancellation of "Old Girls Who Have Current Families Function"

Our thoughts are with all of our Old Girl Community over this period of time.  News and information regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is constantly being updated and the impact of this virus wipdespread.  Sunday afternoon Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced new measures relating to arrivals from international flights requiring that these persons self-isolate for a period of 14 days and all cruise ships banned from arriving in Australia for 30 days. There has also been a ban put in place from Monday 16th March on all "non-essential" organised mass gatherings of 500 persons or more. School closures are not currently part of the plan. Information regarding the response within Australia and overseas is ever updating and with this comes the expectation of changes in strategy to effectively "flatten the curve" of infection.

There is understandably considerable anxiety within the community and concern about how to best protect ourselves and our loved ones.  It is an important time to remain calm and look out for our neighbours and those who are less able and more vulnerable as well as stay up to date. Please see the attached National Campaign ( ) released by the Australian Government on 14th March to help "Stop the Spread and Stay Healthy" for information and strategies. If you know an elderley or unwell Old Girl in your area, please connect with her to see if you can assist in any way, dropping off groceries or sending an SMS to check in on their well-being can help with the isolation some Old Girls may be experiencing. Please reach out to your community if you need support.

This period will no doubt have an impact on many Old Girls' workplaces and businesses and we can help by getting behind each other when considering a service or product purchase.  Please refer to the OGA Business Directory here. Please add your workplace if you haven't already, so fellow Old Girls can support you.

Due to current advice regarding COVID-19 transmission prevention strategies, we regret to inform you that the upcoming "Old Girls who have Current Families Function" has been postponed. As much as we were looking forward to catching up with old friends and welcoming some new faces, we want to exceed best practice measures, to ensure all of our members remain well. We will be in touch as soon as possible to advise on the new date!
