Following outstanding achievement both academically and as a talented violinist while at Somerville House, OG Cherin Lee (Class of 2017) has continued to pursue and achieve success as a sophomore at Harvard University. We are thrilled to see her join our highly skilled and talented list of tutors available.
Cherin demonstrated remarkable talent in both her academic studies (Dux of her year for all years in attendance at Somerville House), as well as her devotion to music as an incredibly talented violinist (Somerville Strings Concertmaster 2014-2017).
She has performed as soloist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra as winner of the 2014 English Family Prize Competition, and was soloist with the Queensland Pops Orchestra at the Queensland Performing Arts Complex (QPAC) New Year’s Eve Gala Concerts in 2014-2017. Cherin also held additional leadership roles of Middle School and Senior School House Captain of Osburn, further demonstrating her all-round capacity for high achievement.
Since leaving school, Cherin has gone on to further success as a sophomore at Harvard University studying English and Pre-Medicine, and simultaneously completing a Master of Music in Violin Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music as part of the Harvard/NEC Dual Degree Program. She was also accepted into Stanford University, Columbia University, and the Juilliard School of Music.
Additional achievements during her time at Harvard include Harvard College Research Program Fellowship Awardee and Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra Concertmaster. Cherin continues to amaze us with her capacity to strive for excellence.
Cherin has gone on to capitalise on her skills and significant experience in tutoring high school students and undergraduate peers at Harvard, establishing her own company IVY INK'D (www.ivyinkd.com.au).
In addition to providing tutoring services in academic subjects, IVY INK'D is able to provide assistance with applications to US colleges and music schools.
Cherin joins our other highly qualified and skilled tutors available on our Directory of Tutors. Please click on following link for the full Directory https://www.somervillehouseoga.com.au/page/directory-of-tutors.
Of her time at Somerville, Cherin comments: “I am very grateful for my time at Somerville House, and I am particularly thankful to all my teachers and friends, who have supported my growth and journey at this wonderful institution. It is my hope that I am able to mentor and inspire current girls of Somerville House to achieve success in all their endeavours as well”.
Congratulations Cherin on your continued success - we look forward to following you on your future journey!
