OGA President Liz Washington spoke with students about life beyond the school walls and welcomed our newest Old Girls in to the Association with their OGA badges. Four brilliant women from the classes of 2016 and 2017 - Alice McMillan, Cameron Scurrah, Anna Liang and Elsie Pritchett - then joined us for the OGA School Leavers Panel, providing insight and advice on their diverse and inspiring journeys since graduating. Thanks go to our OGA volunteers and Libby Duffin (Community Liaison Co-Ordinator) for their assistance - and for ensuring we were still able to celebrate this special milestone.

OG Panel Speakers, L to R: Cameron Scurrah, Alice McMillan, Anna Liang and Elsie Pritchett

Cameron Scurrah - Actor, trainer and currently studying economics and drama (@camscurrah on instagram)

The Arts was more than a career path for this 2017 Somerville House graduate. Growing up with autism, acting and being on stage was one of the only places Cameron felt at home; acting became a necessity, not a pipe dream. After a successful acting school audition in term one in year 12, Cameron jetted off to LA just three weeks after graduating from Somerville to be a part of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts Two Year Conservatory Program where she graduated at the Dolby Theatre ( a.k.a The Oscars Stage) and was a member of the third year Company - the college's honours program, so to speak. Those  three years in LA came with more than just how to cry on cue  and nail an American accent! Acting school became a lesson in how to harness herself, understand her worth and be the very best version of herself - lessons every woman needs in their lives. Now, while COVID has brought her back, Cameron is going back to university to study drama and economics as well as harnessing her specialised acting training to teach teenage girls confidence and goal setting using acting method.

Alice McMillan - Associate Business Restructuring Services at Price Waterhouse Coopers (LinkedIn profile:

Alice is a dedicated, organised and excitable person who has a genuine interest in developing her career. She is currently employed as a Graduate at PwC, operating in the Business Restructuring Services teams under the Deals division. She has completed a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Information Systems at the University of Sydney and aims to be involved in various commitments outside the realms of work to broaden her network and contribute to the wider community.

Anna Liang - 4th year Bachelor of Advanced Science UQ, doing an Honours Thesis in Astroparticle physics

Ordinary matter makes up approximately 4% of the universe. The rest is a mystery. Anna is a fourth year Bachelor of Advanced Science student at the University of Queensland who is currently completing her Honours thesis in astroparticle physics. While her research interests lie in figuring out what the other 96% of the universe could be using particle physics, she has also worked on projects in quantum physics, cosmology and particle collider experiments. Besides her studies and research, Anna teaches tutorials for several first to third year physics courses at UQ and also enjoys creating art to share the wonders of science with others.

Elsie Pritchett - Agribusiness banking for NAB

Elsie graduated in 2016. After completing a Bachelor of Agribusiness with UQ in Gatton she now works full time in Agribusiness Banking with NAB. Elsie currently lives in Bundaberg where she moved for work. She would love to reach out and help girls particularly with an Ag focus and loves the opportunity to give back.

We are extremely thankful to all four ladies for volunteering their time and look forward to welcoming our newest Old Girls to the OGA community. We share with you here a couple of images from the day. For additional photos of the event please see HERE (please log into your OGA portal account to see the full album).
