The Class of 1958 recently caught up on 2nd November, 2020. They have been fortunate to stay in regular contact and remain a very close cohort. Diana (Disie) Downes (Ray) hosted a lunch at her home in place of their "usual" catch up and we share below her recount on the catch up as well as some images from the day. The group photo below is of all the girls who have (or are about to) turn 80 this year. Six of the husbands also took the opportunity to catch up for lunch at the Regatta. CLASS of 58 ... MONDAY, NOVEMBER, 2nd, 2020.
Here are the photos of our lunch in the suburbs seeing that we couldn’t go to the“Kitchen at the Treasury”, our usual haunt for our quarterly lunches.
Lots of hugs and kisses not to mention the noise. Luckily most of the neighbours work!!
It was great to have Nisey with us and she loved being able to join in. Pat Finemore was a “new” addition as she is now living at The Village in Yeronga having moved from Canberra. It was a thrill to have the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Toowoomba girls with us to swell the numbers to 23. And to think I was just going to make a Lasagne and a Chicken Casserole for the usual 15, more or less. However, the Gourmet cooks came to the fore and we had a smorgasbord of delights.
Our thoughts were with all who couldn’t be with us but your spirits were close as we talked about the “Good Old Days”. I know the photos will ignite lots of happy memories from our Year of ‘58.
My love and best wishes for a Happy Christmas and New Year. We hope to catch up again February 1st at Dina Dredge’s home. Watch this space.

Diana Dredge (Lewis), Sylvia Rae (Charles), June Clark (Henson), Bev Folliott (Gardam)
Gillian Alfredson (Bleakly), Ann Wilshire (Watkins), Jill Woodley (Reid), Margaret Hooper (Kerr)
Judy Speare (Kokkinn) was unable to attend but shared the following message with her fellow Old Girls;
It was so wonderful to see the fabulous photos of the group of 22 at the reunion. Special congratulations are the order of the day to all of you who have turned, or will turn 80 before the end of 2020! Many Happy Returns of the Day!!
I am so grateful to you, dear Disie, and your Trevor, for holding the reins and keeping us in touch with each other. I took a selfie on the way out to lunch with friends to share with you. Like Valerie is endeavouring to share a selfie of her from the Sleeper Train - it helps me to feel that I also belong. Here in Norway we are experiencing a second wave of the Covid 19-virus, so are restricted to home most of the time, but can invite maximum 5 friends or family members. Walks in the forest and music help to brighten the days. My grandchildren live in Sweden and borders are closed between Norway and Sweden, so we haven’t visited with each other since 8th February. I am fortunate to have my friend, Finn, who lives in Southern Norway and am staying with him now: A lower incidence of infection here than in Oslo. And I have my lovely daughter, Anne, who lives in Oslo: we will be spending Christmas together at our mountain cabin.
Wishing you a Happy and Healthy Christmas and a New Year full of good health and other blessings!
