Leadership nominations: are you the next OGA President?

The Somerville House Old Girls' Association leadership team plays an important role in one of Australia's first female education institutions.

Supported by an Executive Committee of skilled women, the OGA represents its members, the thousands of students who have graduated from Somerville House over the past 122 years. The Association celebrates current and past Old Girls' achievements, provides career and wellbeing support for members and mentors the next generation of Old Girls - while supporting and contributing to the School.

As the OGA approaches its 2021 AGM in November, President Liz Washington (1998) invites members with an interest in leadership roles to nominate for one of the Association's seven Executive postions. Liz will complete her final year as President this November and said the OGA has undergone significant change in recent years.

“Leading one of Australia’s oldest female alumnae organisations has been an honour; our work carries a deep connection to the trailblazing efforts of our founding sisters - and every Somerville House student."

Liz said her favourite aspect of working with the OGA has been "championing amazing women from all industries and stages of life - and supporting members as they navigate different chapters; from future Old Girls traversing the last exciting months of school, to young Old Girls carving out careers - or mature Old Girls changing jobs, heading into retirement or contributing to inspiring volunteer work."

The OGA is looking for innovative leaders who will continue its progressive trajectory, working closely with the School and supporting our members.

Old Girls of all ages and Committee experience are invited to join the Committee and consider nominating for the following roles:

  • President
  • Vice President (two)
  • Secretary
  • Assistant Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Assistant Treasurer

The OGA also has opportunities in portal and website development and would love to hear from any Old Girls with an interest in journalism, marketing and IT. These roles can be tailored to fit the member's time restraints and availability.

If you are interested in joining the Committee or nominating for one of the leadership positions, please get in touch. To discuss the roles' requirements or register your interest, please get in touch via connect@somervillehouseoga.com.au
