Opportunity for Old Girls to Join Somerville House Netball Club

Published on March 6, 2022

Calling all Old Girls who are interested in playing club netball!

Somerville House Netball Club (SHNC) is a family friendly netball club which is centred around having fun while learning the skills of netball. Only Somerville House girls (past, present and future) can play for the Club which means the girls have the chance to play one of Australia’s most loved sports, netball, with their school friends. Girls are eligible to register for SHNC once they enrol for Somerville House. They can then play for the Club throughout their years at Somerville and beyond as ‘Old Girls’ can also play in the Club’s Opens team.

Anyone 18 or over can register to play for the Opens team. Playing Opens netball with SHNC is a great way to retain or regather old ‘connections’ from school while keeping fit. Whether you have no netball experience, played netball at school or still play today SHNC would love to have you on the team.

Also, if you have a daughter who is aged 7 or older and goes to Somerville she can play in one of the younger teams for the Club.

The main netball season for SHNC (Winter season) starts around March and concludes in September. For the Winter season girls train on a Thursday afternoon and have match play on a Saturday at the Metropolitan District Netball Association in Coorparoo. It is a bit late to register for the upcoming Winter season but later in the year there are the ‘Tropical Tuesday’ and ‘Twilight’ competitions which SHNC would love you to be apart of.
