OGA Networking Event - an evening of reflection, learnings and possibilities

Published on August 22, 2022

The OGA would like to warmly thank the three outstanding panel speakers, Marie Mortimer, Jeanie Wylie and Elisa Choy for very generously sharing their time and personal stories reflecting on their journeys - often not linear to achieving success at the recent OGA Networking Event held on 18th August, 2022  "Women in Leadership - perspectives from Old Girls - pathways to success".

L to R Kelly McIntyre (OGA Networking Group), Jeanie Wylie, Marie Mortimer, Elisa Choy and Alyce Carpin (OGA Networking Group)

Kate Golder (OGA President) welcomed the audience providing an overview of the OGA and upcoming opportunities. As MC for the evening Kelly McIntyre (OGA Networking Group) introduced the three key panel speakers and prompted the panel to explore their pathways to identify key turning points. While the three speakers' stories varied in pivotel events and key people impacting on their choices there was a shared reflection on learnings from their time at Somerville House in an era promoting determination and  self-belief.  The audience were also reminded that barriers and obstacles can be equally motivating and an opportunity for growth and development for the future.

The audience enjoyed the opportunity to pose questions to our panel providing interesting insight into such issues as "Is it possible to have it all?", "Is there a decision pathway that would have allowed them to get to the destination more swiftly?", "What does it mean to be successful?". and "What does the future hold?".

With warm thanks to loans.com.au for kindly hosting and catering.
