
2026 Isabel Bauer OGA Bursary applications are now open

Applications are now open for the 2026 Isabel Bauer OGA Bursary
for an Old Girl of Somerville House.
Isabel Bauer (Bloomer, 1955) is integral to what Somerville House is today. She was the Somerville House Old Girls’ Association Inc’s (OGA) longest standing President, leading our Old Girl community for over 20 years, and served on the OGA Committee from 1971 until her passing in July 2020.
Isabel achieved much in her life both within and outside of the Somerville community. She was a dignified and passionate advocate for female education, and the power of independence through choice. A strong leader and a fierce supporter of her fellow Somerville sisters, Isabel contributed to robust discussions about Somerville’s past, present and future for over 50 years.
The postgraduate Bursary provides $5,000
to support an Old Girl in the further pursuit of her career.
How to Apply
Old Girls are invited to submit an application that will consist of:
- a cover letter (maximum 5 pages) outlining how the $5,000 will enable the further pursuit of their career; and
- documentation that will support their submission (for example curriculum vitae, photographs, published articles, awards and certificates, qualifications, website/social media links etc).

Recipient Announcement
The recipient and finalists will be announced at the milestone OGA Somerville House Birthday Lunch celebrating the OGA's 125th birthday on Saturday 10 October, and then profiled through various OGA publications and platforms. The recipient will be notified in mid September 2026 and invited to be a guest of the OGA at the Birthday Lunch.
Terms
The Bursary is administered by the OGA Committee. Applicants will be assessed by written application, and shortlisted applicants will be interviewed. The Bursary is intended to offer an opportunity for the further pursuit of a wide range of careers and may be utilised for a diversity of needs. Applicants must be a member of the Somerville House Old Girls’ Association (membership enquiries to [email protected]) The recipient and all finalists will agree to profiling through various OGA publications and platforms, and attend the annual Birthday Lunch hosted by the OGA, in person or via video.
